Bee Naround, known to everyone as Beanie, came to the family for free. She shares bloodlines with Opposition Buzz, but nobody expected much.
She was never built for dressage. But through years of training and trial and error she became a great showjumper, always smart and quick-footed, and across country Josie trusted her completely.
Together they climbed the levels to 4*. At Blair Castle she squeezed out one of her best tests ever, then finished third in the CCI4*-S, splitting world No.1 Ros Canter, who took first, second and fourth. It settled the question of whether Josie could compete at that level.
She went back to Blair and set the fastest cross country time two years running, and finished fifth in a 4* in what became her final season. When she seemed slightly off between events, Josie made the pre-emptive call and retired her at fifteen, sound and healthy.
Her offspring are among the young horses coming through the yard now.
